Vorwort
Auf diesen Seiten dreht sich alles um LED Displays für Flipperautomaten von Williams, Bally etc. Dieses Projekt wurde von uns ursprünglich einmal aus der Not heraus gestartet, da wir (zwei Hobbybastler, Elektroniker und Flipperfans) einen Big Guns (Williams System 11) mit defektem Röhren-Display instandsetzen wollten. Wir hatten Zweifel, wie lange ein Ersatzdisplay mit der gleichen Röhrentechnologie halten würde und daher kamen wir schnell auf die Idee, eine eigene Entwicklung mit LEDs zu starten, die bekanntlich eine sehr lange Lebensdauer besitzen und das Gerät ziemlich sicher deutlich überleben würden.
Aus dieser Entwicklung ist mittlerweile ein ziemlich professionelles Board geworden, wie man auf den nächsten Seiten sehen kann. Ausserdem haben wir sozusagen Blut geleckt und weitere Displays entwickelt:
Eines für alte Bally Geräte, wovon es eine 6-stellige und eine 7-stellige Version gibt. Obwohl unser "Mr&Mrs PacMan" funktionstüchtige Röhrendisplays besitzt haben wir aus Spass an der Sache diesen Ersatz entwickelt, den wir in dieser Kiste auch sehr gut testen konnten.
Ausserdem haben wir zwei System 7 Geräte von Williams ohne Displays in unserem Keller gelagert (Jungle Lord und Black Knight), weswegen wir uns auch an diesen Displaytyp begeben haben.
Die vorerste letzte Entwicklung ist ein 2x16-stelliges alphanumerisches Display für den Black Knight 2000, den ebenfalls in einem Kellerraum stehen haben. Er hat zwar auch noch seine Originaldisplays, aber das kräftige rot der LEDs stellen wir uns in diesem Gerät sehr passend vor, sodass wir auch dieses Teil aufbauen wollen.

Pinball LED Displays
Introduction
On these pages you'll find information concerning our pinball LED displays for Williams and Bally pinball machines. We have started this project because we needed a display replacement for our Big Guns (Williams System 11). We had some doubts concerning the lifetime of a tube replacement and had the idea to use LEDs instead, which are known to have a very long lifetime (most likely longer than the pinball machine itself).
This has now become a really professional board as you can see on the following pages. Due to this successful development we started to have fun with these LEDs and continued to develop several other displays:
The next is a replacement for early Bally displays with 6 or 7 columns. This one was developed although we have functional tubes in our "Mr&Mrs PacMan" machine, just for fun... The good thing about this is that we had a chance to test it easily in this setup.
Additionally we have two System 7 pinballs in our cellar (Jungle Lord and Black Knight), which we purchased without any displays. So it was logical to develop these as well in LED technology.
Last but not least we have looked at a 2-row/16-colum alphanumeric display for our Black Knight 2000 machine, which is currently located in another cellar room. The original tube displays of this one are ok as well, but the red color of the LEDs fits very good to its colors and theme, so we started with these as well.
